Brilliant class, Denise! Need to pick up some more spray paint soon - all I have are neutrals for altering stuff for Halloween costumes. Need some bright red, turquoise, yellow, orange, maybe some lime green. Can't wait for a chance to play!

Oooo, how very very very stupid....! Sounds like something that could happen here. ::) Only there are no legal pieces or walls here. It's different in different areas and I know there are places where they put legal walls up, where you are allowed to paint and I believe they have shown that the illegal painting decreased as a consequence, but where I live they've decided that they tolerate nothing and they refuse to create a place where it's ok to paint.

J said I could do the doors of the little storage house on our yard. :D They really need to be repainted. Perhaps I should do it...?!

I grew up in the outer limits of Chicago and have always admired graffiti. Such a beautiful, free art form. I loved reading through this class and am so thankful we have a huge pole barn outside that I can spray away in. I loved seeing how all your layers were created and feel like I could actually do this. I will surely be shopping for paint soon. Thank you for this class Denise. I agree it would be too fun IRL! O0

Denise, thanks for this class! It was awesome.
Cornered hubs this morning and had him dug out all his spray paints and this is what I came up with:

Image
This one I love just as is. You're right though, gotta do it outside and the spray paints smell But not for long fortunately.
I see some spray paint shopping in my near future;)

Image
This one I like a lot. I know what photo of Andrea I will use with this.
Hubs had only dark, boy colors (darn, no pink or fuchsia or turquoise!!).

Image
This is still work in progress. I didn't like it so much - the dots make it look like it had measles so I used some Color Wash and then some gesso. It's looking a lot better now, but I still have to take a picture of it.

DID I SAY I LOVED THIS CLASS? ;D

We are lucky to have several "free" walls in our town. I know it's not fun to have your business be hit by taggers all the time but it is true if you give people space to tag and show off their work they usually wont hit business. There is a difference between graffiti art and vandalism.

I love that magazine Nat. Which month was it? I used to subscribe but now I just occasionally buy it at Barnes and Noble. I want to buy it and see :) The first time (and last) I ever sent in anything for publication I was picked up by them and they had me write an article and submit 5 or 6 layouts. It was so exciting!! I keep telling myself I should do it again.

Brilliant class!!
My hubby built the kids a rebound wall at home which we let them graffiti, it's now time for a do-over, might be my turn :-)

I would love to take a graffiti class some day. I think it is an art and there are really masterpieces out there. http://bigessaywriter.com/blog/graffiti-wall-art-or-act-of-vandalism is another article on this matter, some of you might feel like reading.

Thanks for the link Alice! Will check it out over the weekend. I have read many different takes on graffiti as art vs. vandalism. It has a really fascinating history.

And so fun to see this revived again! I just went through it and enjoyed seeing the class and remembering how fun it was to create.

A cousins of mine is a graffiti artist and it would be so much fun to see him make a scrapbook page! If he gets back to Sweden I just might ask him to.
