Question of the Day

QOTD 10/1/2012

Postby DeniseM » Oct 1st, '12, 8:02 am

I am thinking of learning how to knit this winter. There is a fantastic yarn shop in town called Loopy and they have lessons. I have been thinking about it for some time.

Is there a new craft you would like to learn?

Oh, fun! I am a much better crocheter than knitter, and maybe a class is what I need!

Something that has been on my want-to-try list is needle felting. I love the look and feel and think it would be very meditative. Not sure what I want to make though...maybe just some flower appliqués to begin with.

Denise, do you have a knitting goal in mind? My friend picked up knitting with an aim to make socks.

I don't think hubby would like if I took up another craft...lol

I sew and scrapbook now. Those keep me busy.

I kinda feel the same as Susan. I have so many interests and hobbies already I can even conceive of starting a new one.

I love to look at knitting work and really admire people that can do it....good luck Denise.

I would love to learn to knit and crochet, too! I've actually purchased stuff to start and have not taken the time to do it. I think it looks so relaxing and easy to transport. Let me know if you start, Denise!

I want to learn how to organize. How to organize the amazing mounds of stuff I've amassed since starting scrapbooking. That's my new hobby. :)

I have too many competing hobbies...I was looking at some beads today as I walked by a jewelry making section and I had to force myself to keep going -in my head I was telling myself - you do not have time for the hobbies you have!! I now sew more on layouts than on quilts!

Good for you Denise - I find knitting/crocheting very relaxing and cozy in the winter! And I like to make scarves because they are quick and easy and get done and used! LOL

I think my answer would be - I would like to get better at certain aspects of photography - low light and action....that way theoretically I could scrap more 'cause I'd have better pictures right? :D

How exciting with a knitting class Denise. As you know I knit a lot of socks. I have learned the hard way really. I knew the basics, like to knit and to purl. Then I checked out patterns (free stuff) att Ravelry and Knitty. Then I looked at YouTube and read the descriptions that came with the patterns.

Some good to use links;

http://knitting.about.com/
http://www.knitty.com/archive.php
https://www.ravelry.com/account/login

Now to the question - I really would love to learn how to take better pictures as well. I did a class once, but really need to update myself.

Maybe I should try to knit to?
