Have you ever taken a DNA test like 23 and me or the one ancestry.com offers?

I have an I found it really interesting!

No, I have never thought about doing it - but maybe it is different when you are from a country such as Germany compared such a diverse country like the US.

@seemownay
That is an interesting point! :)
Both my maiden last name and my married name are both very German and yet when my hubby got his results back he was actually more English/Irish/Scottish than anything else.

For Xmas 2012 I bought kits for family.....Matt (his father died unexpectedly at 53 from massive heart attack and is very interested in health and nutrition for someone so young) and us as we are not so young. We primarily wanted to know health risks and traits with ancestry being secondary. Over time, it is interesting to look up the evolving health risks based on an increasing database of participants.

I have not done it but would love to.
My son Conner finds all of that very interesting as well.
We have always been told that we are mostly Irish but it would be fun to find out what other surprises are there. I always hope it's something interesting!!

Like we have such different coloring. Black hair/light eyes but we all tan very dark? might do it some time if I ever have the spare cash!

Funny, we've been having these discussions at home.
A US friend did it.

I know I'm a mix of English, Welsh and German. But it would be fun to know what else has been thrown in :)
