QOTD 02/19 - Handwriting

Question of the Day

QOTD 02/19 - Handwriting

Postby Funky Fairy » Feb 19th, '13, 5:43 am

Do you like your own handwriting?
Has it changed much over the years?
Do you enjoy writing?
Do you like to handwrite on your LO's?

Mine is usually pretty neat.
I do like my writing but on LO's I wish it were a little more of a scribble style. It's almost too neat for my LO's. But I do think it's important to have my own handwriting on my work.

It hasn't changed too much over the years. I went through a phase when I was baout 13 of having much rounder writing with great big circles insread of dots over 'i' etc..

I love Emily's writing. I think it's so funky.

I've noticed that my handwriting is very much influenced by those around me - i changes into the handwriting of those I can see (after seeing theirs, of course). But I do have a handwriting of my own too - I guess it's more a scribbly style, like Lisa wants ;)

I'm too lazy to type/print journaling, so I LOVE my handwriting! lol I do think handwritten journaling makes pages more personal.

I have always loved handwriting. In grade school art and handwriting were my favorite classes. It's not a class anymore, but my kids still learn cursive. I embraced my printing in college and it has stuck with me ever since.
I love handwritten journaling and titles and designs. I love that I can recognize handwriting of people I love- like my Grandma's recipe cards. My dad has written a few notes to me over the years (not many) but I have saved each one.
Especially in this digital/text age, I think handwriting is even more important and special!

I like my handwriting and my printing, and use it most of the time for my journaling. I agree with you all that it is special and a lovely personal addition to the process of memory keeping.

I don't think my writing style has changed much over the years, but it does have degrees of neatness and precision depending on the intended reader. My doodling preference is alphabets, though I am not very fancy with it.

My handwriting can be absolutely awful, when I'm in a hurry or don't care. But I can make it legible if I try. :)

I love my handwriting (thank you Lisa!), have always loved to print and stylize letters, and use it almost exclusively on my pages. I just like how it looks.

It's changed, I have a few different varieties, adding things from here and there that I like. I switch every so often how I write my lower case gs for instance, but I think it's been fairly consistent my whole life. I know it looks like a preteen girl, but I can't help doing the big circle over the i. I love it :)

I'm okay with my handwriting, but don't love it. I tend to use it a fair bit on my Project Life layouts, because I'm too lazy to fuss with printing on the journaling cards and label stickers. You can see what my handwriting looks like on my blog: http://www.carmenpaulsorthner.com/ I'm no Ali Edwards or Heidi Swapp when it comes to nice handwriting, that's for sure.

I love the way handwriting looks and feels in the scrapbooking/journaling area. I feels authentic and real. I like my handwriting alright, except when I rush it and then it looks messy.
It has changed over time, years ago it was loopier and smoother.
I think having neat handwriting also has to do with having the right pen. The thinner the tip the better the look.

I like Emily's writing too!

My own handwriting... I do like it. It's been the same for quite awhile now. I enjoy writing and making lists, and I prefer to write on my layouts. Probably 97% or so have my handwriting.

I love others' handwriting, but mine seems impossible for others to read. My husband hates it. He can never read what I write on my layouts.

I like Emily's handwriting too. But not my own. I usually utilize the computer for my journaling, unless I'm too lazy or want the handwritten journaling effect. Or if I know I'm going to handwriting, then I like to do hidden journaling. Then I can be lazy and it doesn't mess up the visuals.

I love my handwriting. It's sort of scripty/printy and sometimes scribbly but I like it.
My friend Meredith Fenwick who used to sell her digital stuff on Two Peas used to work for me at my store in CT. She created a font from my handwriting. It's called kookalicious. :) I guess I am famous. O0

I am not sure it's still for sale but maybe 2 peas.

I adore your handwriting Emily. It is the perfect combo of neat and a tad funky!

I LOVE Emily's handwriting! And Denise described it perfectly :)

I like my handwriting enough - lol
I think it's gotten a little smoother over the years, I alternate between print and cursive, and I usually handwrite on my layouts.......mostly because I'm too lazy to line up and print journalling!! :P

I love how handwriting can evoke a "feel" of a person - I have some recipes from my grandmother and my husbands grandmother in their handwriting and it helps me remember them fondly when I see the recipe cards!

Looks like your font isn't available any more, Denise, at least on Two Peas.

I love my handwriting - but not on layouts. I try, I really try, but it's not quite the same when I'm doing it "forever". So I capture my handwriting in the pictures I take, or with bits of pieces of paper with my writing on them (before I think about it going in the scrapbook!). Plus, I have so much story to tell, a lot of times, I need to type it just to make it all fit. LOL

I wish I had a lovely handwriting, but I don't, but I like it, because hand-writing is so personal, it's always one of a kind.
I handwrite in scrapbooking, I like that, even if it is not always pretty, but I feel it makes it more genuine.

My father who is an architect has a very cool handwriting. As a grown-up, I tell you, I still have trouble dechiffring what he writes, but it looks so cool :) And for me, it is my Dad's handwriting.
I cherish little cards with my grand-mothers handwriting on them, she died 30 years ago, her handwriting was her, it with the cards, she is still with me, if you see what I mean.

I could go on and on, but all that, just to say that I think handwriting is important, and that it is such an important part of a person :)
Pretty or not pretty.

I had one major change in my handwriting, when I was in my mid-twenties, when I was doing my Master in France, I changed to the French R's that are written like a capital R, even in the middle of a word. I cannot change it back, it is impossible, and also I like it that way. I know Madonna does it too :D
