Postby anja_wade » Apr 25th, '09, 6:38 pm

Hi everyone!
We've got a couple more RAKs to give away tonight and I'm going to go easy on you with this one. ;D
The movies A-Z thread got me thinking about how visually stimulating and inspiring a good movie can be.
So, to be entered into a drawing for a prize, just tell us a movie you find visually inspiring!

Here are a couple that really inspire me...

I love classics like Wizard of Oz and Gene Wilder's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.. You have to watch and really consider how they were able to create many of the effects without all the technology we have today. I love the scene in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the little garden of food. There is just so much behind creating these types movies.

OK, you caught my eye with this one, so before I finally go to bed ;D .

I just love this film. The costumes, the music, the glamour, the colours of the final dance sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2sbUtPjLkA). The cheesy 'Love is in the Air' video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE9QfcJ9kLI).

Everything about it. Love.

I think I need to do a red and yellow LO tomorrow now. ;D

I, too, love the "Wizard Of Oz" and marvel that they were able to create all of that without todays technology. I especially thin that it is a good movie for families and the values, having a heart, using your brain...etc. I guess I am just a kid at heart...lol

holy favorites, Batman!

I LOVE Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! You're right - to me, all the scenes in the factory are so magical!
Also, cheer up Charlie makes me tear up every single time! :'(

And Strictly Ballroom is so fantastic I think I need to buy it! Pretty much anything by Baz Luhrmann is inspiring to me. I loved his Romeo + Juliet too.

I have to go work on my Bogo Pogo now.

OMG. Seriously. Love you (not in a scary way ;)). No-one else I *know* loves this film or is able to quote lines from it. Genius.

I shall leave you with this profound thought. "A life lived in fear is a life half lived". So much to be learned from Strictly Ballroom... so much.

Really. I am going to bed now. Really. ;D Not staying up at all to re-watch that cheesy music video a couple more times. Oh no. Definitely not.

OK. Just one more. "Feel the rhythm. Don't be scared". OK. Really going now, in case I scare everyone away and get banned for being mental. Blame the sleep deprivation. ;D

I love the part where the father finally stands up for himself at the end!

It's so hard to break away! Go to bed - we'll be here in the morning! ;D

Movie inspirations totally depend on mood for me....I've also watched way more children's films lately than adult film...One film that has inspired me lately, visually is "Serenity". I love the space images paired with the western images. The western images have really inspired me with lace lately...I'm also really liking "Wall-e" right now. In fact, my daughter and hubby are sitting watching it while I make soup (for lunch tomorrow. I'm on a diet and I hate to cook after church, but won't eat good fast food.) Anyway, Wall-e has a clean graphic look, but there are lots of swirls and curves. I've been stitching curves....While I'm taking this on a completely different track, I've been watching lots of Lilo & Stitch lately. Bright colors and gatherings of flowers. Ok. I was also totally inspired by the drops of red on yellow in The Watchmen. That image has stayed with me :)

Yes! Top Gun!
Love those 80s classics!

Here's another I love. A little dark, but it's based on a comic book and it has a really cool look...

I recently watched "To Kill a Mockingbird" and I love the black and white feel of it, as well as the trinkets the kids collected from the tree--so embellish-y. All of it reminds me of vintage photos, pictures of my grandparents and greatgrandparents.
