Thanks Anja :D this would be perfect for a Wedding or Anniversary gift, especially if presented in a shadow box.

Step 1 :

Draw a petal template with the measurements below. The top of the petal would be broader than the lower half.

Image

Important :

Using TWO co-ordinating pattern papers, you will need TWO sets of 8 petals each. This means 8 petals on one pattern paper, and another 8 on the other pattern paper.

Tip :

If you have a die-cut system with the similar petal or leaf measurements, this will save you time ! You can also use hearts for the petals :D

Squeeze the top tip of each petal together to get a slight crease, ink the edges and the crease.

How are you gals doing so far ?

Tip - for this project having the Tim Holtz blending tool helps, and I used the Distress Ink Worn Lipstick

Aw, I so wish I could stay up and do this with you 'live', but it's 12.40 am here and I'm seriously flagging! I definitely want to do this though - it's so pretty. Thank you!

You are so welcome, this is a great project because it's really verstile !

Step 4 :

Cut out a circle from a matching cardstock, it should be 3 and 3/4 inches across. For added stiffness and stability, I used use raw chipboard to back the circle. You will be building the photo and embellishments on the circle.

Image

Another tip - for boys, instead of petals, around the circle you can use cut out images in the shapes of stars, little animals. Think Jilli Bean frogs (White Bean on White) or Sassafras Lass's Anthem :D

Thanks Christine :D

Step 5.

Cut a pattern paper 7 X 7 ins. for the background directly behind the flower. Trace the circle in the center of the square. Ink all the edges.

Step 6 - laying the petals

Stuff to note : You will have two layers of petals, and if you notice in real flowers, the underside is always larger than the top petals. This is the same for this project : the bottom layer of petals are a little more spread out.

Image

The top layer is tighter :

In the center, I've stuck a small piece of foam which would raise the circle. Alternatively, you may use foam dots, cork or packing cardboard
