Chat with Lisa Pace!!! WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!!

Postby tricia » Apr 25th, '09, 1:05 pm

Lisa lives in Frisco, Texas with her husband and two daughters. She is the Design Team Coordinator for Maya Road. She recently finished creating projects and writing her first technique based book which is scheduled for publication in Feb. of next year.

In May of 2007, she was picked as one of 5 master scrapbookers in Martha Stewart’s scrapbooking contest and August of 2007, was chosen as a 2008 Memory Makers Master.

My work has been published in magazines such as Memory Makers, Scrapbooks etc., Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Crafts and Scrapbooking & Cards Today as well as numerous idea books like Holiday Home, Scrapbook Trends, Paper Trends, Simply Handmade, Paper Creations and Scrapbooking & Beyond.

And for us, best of all, Lisa was one of the original Daisy Divas!

If you have any questions for Lisa about getting published, being on a manufacturers' design team, any of the fabulous classes on her blog or just want to chat with this super fun woman, here's your chance.

Thank you Lisa for joining in the fun today!

Strange, I just posted a question and it disappeared!

Here it is again -

Lisa, how many times did you submit work for publication before something got picked up?

Hi Lisa...! It's so nice to see you here...!

I wonder what you do when you don't feel the right inspiration? Do you ever panick because you've things to do and deadlines coming up and the inspiration is totally gone?

Does that sound like it has happened to me? Well, it has, but it never lasts forever and eventually the inspiration comes back, luckily... ;D

Hi... I have pretty much lived in a cave (scrapbook cave that is) this past year... busy with lots of projects. But now I feel ungrounded and am ready to get back into the scrapping community.

I think I read somewhere that you don't have a "defined" style, do you think that has changed at all? Is there one style you gravitate more towards? Is there something that HAS to be on your layouts to feel complete?

I was pretty lucky with submitting. I submitted a mini album I did for my daughters 17th birthday and a funky paper doll that got picked up pretty quickly.

Hi Anna, oh have I ever had a few panicked moments over this past year. Usually what I do is take a nap. If I am super stressed I usually will dream about the project I am working on and work it out in my head. Then when I wake up I feel refreshed and have a solution and it all works out. Kinda crazy but that is what works for me. Some like to look through idea books or online galleries but for me that just seems to complicate the issue.

Oh great questions Ronda. I have always wondered what my style is and have many people tell me different things... vintage romantic, shabby chic etc. It is certainly not graphic as I clutter everything I do up with lots of glitter, rhinestones, buttons and other such embellishments. I have to have machine sewing or hand stitching and a little glitter here and there. I love using Stickles to accent patterns on my papers or create flowers from old book pages. I have found that lately I am using a lot of felt, vintage sheet music or old books. I think I am vintage at heart.

Hi Lisa!!!
Congrats for your achievements
What are the steps one has to do to become a designer in a scrap company (of course besides making great LO and projects!!)?? Years of blog entries?? Lucky calls?? A special scrap style??

you know I think that is one of the hardest question to answer.."define your style."

I do love your layering & that shabby chic feel of your layouts! and the pieces of Vintage..sigh!

My next scrappy goal is to get more online workshops set up. I love doing these as people can use items they already have on hand or create projects exactly as I have them since I provide all the info needed. I would like to do another book but I guess I really need to get the one I just did on the shelves first. I have spoken with my editor and we are trying to come up with a way to make our present idea work. It would be another technique based book but is far from being ready to submit a proposal.

ooohh!! And something else!!!

How do you start a LO? Are you firstly inspired by something or another LO?? Do you cut things randomly and move them around? Do you use sketches?? I always panic from where to start!!!
