SUMMER 2014 CROP - CHAT - Neighbours

SUMMER 2014 CROP - CHAT - Neighbours

Postby Funky Fairy » Jul 19th, '14, 9:18 am

What are your neighbours like?
Do you chat? Do you socialise?

We are so lucky. We love our neighbours.
We had an older couple next door and opposite and both sets were a little irritating and moaned about the kids sometimes.
About 8yrs ago a young family moved in next door and 18mth ago a young family moved oppisite.
We are all the same age and all get on so well. We don't really socialise as such but we do often chat out the front. We've started having street bbq's too in the summer. The family next to our neighbours have teens and are lovely too and they join in. We all sit out in the road, all the bbq's and the kids play ball.

(we are at the end of the road, so no one comes past us and we are only 2 houses on our bit).

I love being around other familes here where you don't have to wory about noise etc..

We really love our neighbours.

We have great neighbors, but since our lots are so large, we don't see them often. Most of the houses are set way back off our street, so unless you're walking or driving by, it's hard to connect. I'll be honest, it's one of the things I love most about this street. ;D

Our neighbours are ok. The ones who lives closest to us are great. We don't really 'hang out' but we do chat when we see each other. Their kids are grown up and out of the house, but they are very nice to our kids.

We don't talk much to the neighbours across the street. We say 'hi' but that's it. Their garden looks perfect - our doesn't... and they don't like our cats... We had an argument once, but it was quite a long time ago and it has never happened again.

We moved here about two years ago. The neighbors to the left are young, nice....but young and don't have kids.

We have an empty house to the right. It's been empty for the better of the two years. It's in the middle of escrow, I'm HOPING that we get some great neighbors.

Across the street I don't know anyone. I don't even see them coming or going, so I can't even wave at them. :/

I've lived on the same street for 20 years and I can honestly say that I can carry on a conversation (not just hello, how are you) with anyone from the bottom of the street to the top. Everyone is so friendly!

We live on a private street with about 12 houses. A variety of ages of adults and kids. Don't socialize but will wave and say hi.

We just moved a year ago and the neighbors are nice, but we all mostly keep to ourselves.

When the boys and I moved into this neighborhood, I was a little worried, I'd never really had neighbors. Growing up we lived WAY out in the country, the same when Greg and I were married, so the idea of a "neighborhood" was a new thing to me. Thankfully we have wonderful neighbors on the one side and on the other side they are nice but just keep to themselves. Behind us is a family with a boy and girl that are the same ages as Nate and Zach and they have all become fast friends - they are here most afternoons all summer long :) however they are moving away next week. Nate is heartbroken at loosing his friend. I feel so bad for him, it was one of the things that I think really helped him adjust to having a new home and all the changes that came with a divorce. Zach is pretty laid back about it all, he is my less social one.

It was hard for my boys to move. We didn't live in a "neighborhood" in CT. Our lot was 2 acres with lots of fields and forest around us. Our neighborhood now is awesome but quirky. It's a really popular spot being so close to a beautiful park with a creek running through it. And it's close to down town. Missoula is a college town so we have a lot of rental houses with college kids on our street. Then there are the "grownups" who own their houses. My neighbor across the street is one of my closet friends. I adore her. I walk over in my pjs and have coffee int he mornings or a glass of wine some times in the evenings. We have dinner's together, etc.

Oh my! This is a question I avoid! Lol!! I live back a lane in the middle of the woods surrounded by very odd sometimes crazy people. We share a lane with two other houses but have separate drives.
