FALL CROP 2013: Challenge #1 from Emily

Re: FALL CROP 2013: Challenge #1 from Emily

This one IS a challenge!

I just finished a page this week that had stitching on it. I used an Amy Tangerine stitching template and it took me a good long while!

****This is not my entry....just a sample*******

I made a process video too!

I think I will use one of the stitching cards from the October Add-On for this challenge. Thanks Emily!!

Those templates are so much fun Marianne, I made a page for an assignment in the Fall Scrapbook and Cards Today issue, I stitched the title, a chevron, and a feather. You can download the issue here.

Oooooo - I LOVE this challenge! I love to sew on my layouts - especially with my machine, but I have some hand sewing ideas! Fun first challenge!

My class project would probably drive you nuts, Emily! I love that look of loose ends, because it adds to the charm and shouts, "Look! I'm handmade!" It's as if the thread is a little piece of love hanging off the edge of a page or photo.

Such a great challenge. That sampler of stitches is inspiring!

hope this upload works this time.
I randomly sewed the sequins and left the threads hanging, I tried the feather stitch on the back end of the arrow, and there is faux stitching around the journaling.
As I said in a previous comment I do not sew and this was really a challenge to put thread and needle together :) but thanks for making me step out of my comfort zone.

Maybe, but maybe not, the look is growing on me. It's just habit to snip the threads! But I had to be challenged, so I picked something that was hard for me :)

I was a computer "weanie" in my other life, but it was all work-related and I didn't do chats - so this was a challenge in more ways than one. But it was fun. Thank you!

In preparation for these crops and any other, I make kits that have photos, papers, a sketch and If I have time I'll get embellies and do my cricut cutting. In this case I already had my title cut out. I started to stitch it by hand (machine is broken) but didn't like the way it was crumpling/puckering the paper. My error I'm sure!
2-used french knots
3-tied loose threads to the title
4-used back stitch and french knots.
Love sewing on pages! Learned that from Ronda P. Never thought of using french knots though. They are really cute.
