CHAT WITH US - The Chat Thread 05/09 - 11/09

Postby AnnaB » Sep 5th, '11, 2:54 am

Hellooo....!

Monday morning. I dropped the big kids off and Tuva is sleeping - I'm going to scrap, scrap, scrap until she wakes up. :)

Tonight is the big meeting where we are to be informed about the plans for the re-organization of the schools. Johan is going and I'm staying at home with the kids. I'm angry only thinking about the meeting... and I had the craziest dream about it tonight. They were saying the kids would have to go to Stockholm (approx. 100 kilometres) with bus, to have lunch there every day... ;D ;D

I wish you all a very good start to the week...!!!!

Good luck with the meeting Anna.

Hi Everyone.
I'm home again.
It's Dad's last day and I'm feeling sad :(
It comes around far too quick each year.
Off to spend the last evening with him now.

Hi, just a quick check-in from me, it's a busy week. We're working at playgroup prepping for the start of term on Weds, lots of cleaning and sorting, I spent the morning printing and laminating registration names, snack names, birthday board names, signs and notices.......yawn.....dull but necessary! The best bit will be seeing the children again :).

Anna, fingers crossed for some positive outcomes at the meeting.

Lis, hugs for you, I know you find it hard every time xxx

Busy, busy here too. Unpacking, scrapbooking, cleaning, the usual stuff ;)

Alice did send her pacifiers to Santa this afternoon. Now she´s trying to fall asleep without one. Not easy...

My best friend whom I went to Stockholm with´s having a rough time. Yesterday when she came home, her dad called, he got a stroke and Annika had to go and watch her mother who has Alzheimers. Both her parents try to ignore the fact that they really need to move into some sort of home for the elderly. I had to be the "support on phone"...

busy, busy days here as well.
Have been at work today.
Love to have the kids in 8th grade in kitchen class. We have so much fun.

Hubby left for Germany - job stuff - for the next 1 1/2 week.
Edvins confirmation will be sunday 18th of sept .... so this is kind of crazy ...
Our house is still not in a condition I will prefer to have lots of guests around.
Toilet not working properly....bathroom sink not working....two empty closets to put up in the old bathroom, still standing in the middle of the livingroom ...accompanied by the old fridge and a new sofa ... and some other messy things...
this is just insane...
Oh dear!
Wish I had 36 hours more a day.... ::)

Oh, but my kitchen is working, and is almost finished. LOVE this new room :) :)

Now if you don't see me much around the next couple of weeks, you'll know what I'm working on.... :P

Mornin' all :)
Anna, I hope the meeting gave some answers and everything works out ok.
Lisa, HUGS HUGS HUGS!!!
Nicky, hope the preperations were successful and the term starts well.
Marie, I hope your friends DAd is ok and they get through this time. Also hope Alice slept well :)
Gudrun, hope the 1 1/2 weeks go quickly and smoothly. Hope you get everything done and glad work is going so well :)

Yesterday we dropped Megan off at Band camp. She is away till Thursday and was very excited about going. Yesterday also had a specialist appointment for Elizabeth and now have a form to take to the hospital so we can go on the waiting list to have her tonsils out.
It's now school holidays, yay, Dave is having Monday off so we are going to go with my parents, sister and nieces, to Mum and Dad's shack. Hoping the weather is kind so we can sit in the sunshine on the beach... not holding out for that though as snow is predicted again this week lol
will be glad of the time away but not the lack of sleep, sleeping on the old couch at the shack isn't a pleasant experience :)

Hello everyone -

We'll getting the kids off to bed - they start back to school here tomorrow - which is exciting but sort of unbelievable at the same time - as I have no idea where summer went!

We went to our CFL game today (Canadian football League - you know the small version of the NFL LOL!) and then went to friends house for dinner... it was fun and relaxing. Now just putting through some laundry and checking in online before I hit the hay for the night as well.

A crazy busy week for us ahead as well - kids to school tomorrow - we also start a huge project at work tomorrow which means hubby will not be in the office most of the week - and with it being the beginning of sept - the phone will now start ringing off of the hook for the Christmas season! Ahhhh let the fun begin!!

Morning! Rain, rain, rain today. Have severe problems go get my eyes open really. Having a cup of coffee (3 rd...) Alice actually slept well without the pacifier - she was crying in her sleep for a short while in the middle of the night, but after that nothing. Puh! Hope next night will go as well.

Work for me this evening. YES my real work at the hospital. Haven´t been there for a week, so it feels a bit strange. It´s like an adventure since I don´t know where I´m placed. We have 3 different wards to work in - the Heart ICU, the "normal ward" (where everyone who has some sort of heart condition, but don´t need that much monitoring stays) and the ward where everyone that is on a waiting list for a checkup or treatment of some sort stays. Doesn´t need much to make life exciting nowdays ;D

Hope everything went well on the meeting last night Anna. Did someone get killed ;)

Gudrun - hope the week will swing by without any major disasters.

Lisa - hugging too.

Hi everyone!

Good luck with everything Gudrun...!
Hugs to you Lisa...!

Well, the meeting... they first talked for 1 hour 45 minutes...! Like they were trying to make everyone too tired to ask questions... ::) and then there were LOTS of questions, many of which they failed to answer. No one got killed Marie ;) , but people were very upset. The woman in charge of the whole school and daycare apparatus here (not a politician) was heard saying this to one of the head masters after the meeting "now we have answered their bloody questions"... Apparently she was totally rude and disrespectful during the meeting too.

Some parents do over react and say stupid things too, but this whole process could have been handled so much better and the worst "fighting" could have been avoided if they'd done things differently.

The decision is still to be made on Sept. 20. It'll be interesting... :P

Hope things will turn out the best way, anna.
This whole meeting and the idea of moving the kids sounds crazy.

Just have to tell you:
The politicians planned to close and tear down one of the local schools in my district. All the parents were working really hard against this, and it worked!!!

Hope all the frustration among the parents will work in the case of Linus School too.
thinking of you.

Sounds like everyone feels as busy as I do! :)

It is starting to get cold in the mornings and at night but still hot during the day. The boys have started off the school year pretty well. They are getting up by themselves at 6am, I am already up but it's nice not to have to harass them to get out of bed. We have been trying to get to sleep by 10pm which helps. So far so good.

I know that feeling so well Gudrun-wanting more time in the day! I feel like I really have 3 jobs instead of 2. When you work besides working at home you still have all the stuff to do to make the house/kids/marriage run smoothly. I feel like I am juggling lots of balls in the air. I have to be so organized which is not the way I would normally be. :) I like to be more relaxed and just sort of let the day/week unfold. Can't do that. Nothing would get done.

I am so happy to be scrapping again though. I made 2 layouts in the past few days and have an idea for a mini book.

Also need some help ladies. I did a photo shoot of a young couple who is getting married in a few weeks. I work with them and it was my wedding gift to them. Her mom loved the photos so much she sent me a gift certificate to anthropologie for 150 dollars. What should I get? Help. so excited but so much pressure. :D

Lisa, hope you are feeling a little less sad today. thinking bout you love.

Marie hope work was good and Alice is well rested?

Anna, I think Gudrun is right. maybe with all this parental action they will change their course. hope so.

Sharmaine, I am sure the couch is not comfy but I would suffer to sit on the beach!!!! :) hope it doesn't snow.

off to work ladies. I have a break between cleaning and waitressing so I will check back in later.

How did the meeting go, Anna? Hope it works out!

Gudrun, would love to see your new kitchen - any chance you'll post a photo? :) It's hard work, but it is so worth everything when it all comes together!

Was in London this weekend, LOVED being back! Gosh, I do miss that city. But living there with two kids is a bit different than living there with only hubby and being able to work 45+ hours a week. Don't think a life there now would be that much different than the one I've got here. :)

Work, work, work. Hardly any scrapbooking. Maybe tonight! I still haven't managed to try the weekly prompts or the monthly challenge - that will have to change! But hey, on Sept 30th I'm off to a crop, meeting lots of people from CasaKreativ, in Tønsberg Norway (newcomer Scrappegal is also going! :D) - can't wait! Two full days - hotel breakfast and hours of time for paper and glue!

Wishing you all a great afternoon (or morning, depending on where you are in the world)! :)

Hot tea and warm socks day here! The rain i pouring down like nothing I´ve seen in a long time. Sven got soaked when he walked home for lunch - and he has got 100 m from his work to our house...

Feeling a bit tired an low today. Might be the weather, but I have a slight suspicion that there is a cold coming >:( Had plans to be creative tonight but ended up infront of Hawaii 5-o instead :) Maybe tomorrow, I really do want to take on the September sketch and the other fun challenge.

Hope all of you busy ladies have time to relax something today. Will try to catch up tomorrow.

NOT a fun day for me today. I killed 2 patients....

Not personally, but sort of.... Two of four of my patients died today. How bad isn´t that. Both had HUGE Heart infarcts, the first successfully treated, but with complications and the other in such a bad shape before we even begun with any invasive treatment. Feeling totally worn out. Don´t happen that much that it get´s to me, dying people, but two of whom I taken care of in on day is a bit tooooo much.

Well, luckily my family isn´t at home. I´ve poored myself a glas of wine, catching up with some reading here (which always make me in a good mood) and thinking of taking on the September sketch.

Hope everyone´s had a better day than I have...

Marie, I am so sorry. I don't pretend to even know what that might feel like. Cleaning houses and waitressing is hardly life and death. I am sending you lots of love and wishing I could hang out with you and drink some wine. Hopefully the scrapping will help. Take care.

Gosh, I just read about the meeting, Anna, I missed your post before writing my previous one. Really hope it all works out - keep up protesting and don't give up even if they choose to close the school down and move it. It's not over 'till the fat lady sings, as they say!

Marie, so sorry to read about your loss at work! Must be so hard sometimes to do what you do. Hugs to you!

Denise, you are such a busy bee that even I think you have 3 jobs instead of 2. :D But you're always so positive, I have only one job and I nag about it, haha!

Kids are watching telly before going to bed, I'd like to sit down and have a go at the #1 challenge with all the layers, buuuuut.. right now the couch sounds like a much better idea.

Just bidded on a buffet (sideboard? dresser? don'd know the word), hope I get it. Will show you if I do, it's such a beautiful piece of furniture. Am thinking of painting it in a crazy colour and distressing it a bit, bu I'm afraid it'll be totally ruined. Oh well, Il'' try to get it in my house first, haha.

Wishing you all a nice Saturday, ladies! :)

Marie, I know I can't understand what you are feeling. But chin up, just know you save more then you lose!

I am so happy it is Saturday, my daughter at work, the boys at their dad's and me alone with the computer and the big tv! It is the only time I get to watch in HD.

This last week was a hard one. And then I got sick and had to go to the dr. But the next week should be better! I know I will love it when my kit gets here.
Jeanne,

Marie... many hugs! I hope you are feeling better! It is totally understandable that it's difficult sometimes, dealing with things like that at work!

Jeanne - I hope you're right and that you'll have a better week!

Good luck with the bidding Asil! When will you know if you got it?

I took Tuva and Alva and drove to see one of Linus' two soccer games today. Johan is always going with him and it was so much fun to get to see him play. :) He has improved so much since last year and he even scored a goal - his first one. :D I took some photos - not of the goal though - but I haven't had the chance to look at them properly yet.

Now we're off to some friends' house for some 'fika'. :)
