While You're Working...

Postby Jennifer_Davis » Apr 1st, '11, 10:05 pm

If you are in the middle of a creative project and get interrupted with life stuff (picking up the kids at school, laundry, cooking, whatever) do you pick up your things that your working on or do you leave your stuff out to pick up on where you left off when returning? Are you organized in your creativity or do you make a mess and leave it a mess throughout the creative process? :)

I pretty much have a mess all the time! I organize it and clean it when it gets so bad that I can't even get to my desk, let alone work at it! Then I do the deep clean/organize and it stays that way for a month or 2 and then I start all over! ::)

In fact...I have a couple cards I have to make tonight and my desk is so messy, I'm just going to take my kit and sit on the floor to do them cuz I really don't have time to deal with my desk! :o

If I'm coming back to start again then I'll leave out, but if I know that I can't, I have another table area in my craft room where 'in progress' projects can be laid out, but my tools and materials will be cleared away so the desks are left free.

I have a horribly messy desk/room/floor while I am working on a project but when I am done before I start something new I clean things up and clear my desk. Then I start all over again.

I don't clean up. I really love being able to keep a project spread out until it's finished. I do try to clean up a little more often then I usually do, because the mess has a tendency to get worse and worse and worse... ::) and I don't always clean up as much as I should inbetween projects either....ehm... but while working on something that I know I'm going to continue working on soon, I love being able to leave things on my desk. (Compared to a bunch of years ago when I was scrapping on our kitchen table and always had to clean everything up.)

I scrap on the dining table in our living room. If I have an unfinished project, I usually leave it though unless i REALLY have to take it off the table, then it goes into one of the bags or one of the surfaces around (usually my ironing board).

I like to start off tidy and then let the creativity take me where it wants to go.. then I start again :)

While in the middle of a project I always leave my mess out. It is usually in my scrapping area, but sometimes not. It probably drives my husband nutty, but he should know by now that " a creative mess is preferable to idle neatness" (love that quote).

I'm a messy person. I start out with a (more or less) tidy table, but it's chaos halfway through a project. And it's allowed to be a total mess until I finish.. :)

Like others, I leave it out until I'm done with a project (if i am working at my desk), and then do a big clean up each week.
Sometimes, though if it's a big project, or if I am strapped for time, I start at my desk, move to the floor, and on and off the kitchen table. I do not have a scrap room, just a part of a room, so it's always a challenge. I definitely need to rethink my space a bit since I am running out of room.

What she said, only I have no second table :)
I always clear my tools away, even if I take a break to eat or something like that.

I leave my mess out. I have a room to leave it in but I do need to learn to pick up after I'm finished with a project.

if I'm coming back to it, I'll leave it all out..I'm definitely an unorganised scrapper working with a clutter of products around me, so I can hardly move lol..but I always tidy things up before starting another project! ;D

I leave my mess out on my desk too...but I always have to clean up one project before starting another one. It's like I need a clean slate to start with! :)

I have to clean it up since I scrap at a desk in the kitchen/living room and we have a toddler. I keep everything together in a plastic layout box that I am working on, that way it is easier to get right back into when the little ones are sleeping.

I am a total mess. I used to have to clean everything up in between because I worked in my dining room. Now that we finished our basement, there is a room on the third floor that I've set up as a scraproom. What a luxury to be able to leave things out for as long as I please!

I am totally lucky to have my own room so I can shut the door and come back to it at my leisure
