Lis, you took the wirds right from me, was going to say the same about Denise! Can't believe you've got grandchilden! How lovely :). Nice to see you here, welcome to the chat. It does get a bit crazy at times, I mostly blame Laura and Ronda ;D.

Lis, we have blue skies and sunshine too, haven't seen them for a few days ::) . Makes a better start to the day, doesn't it?

We've got a nice long weekend here in the UK (not sure about Scotland, maybe it's just England? Sue?), it's a Bank Holiday on Monday. We've just got little bits and bobs planned, there's a new outdoor specialist superstore opening in Norwich today, 'Go Outdoors', they do loads of camping stuff so we're going to see if we can bag any bargains, we don't need much, we just love looking round camping shops!

Then tomorrow, we're going baby-visiting, woohoo! I love babies :). Father-in-law's partner's daughter (you following?) has just had a baby, and they're up from London visiting, so we'll pop over and see them. Sniff, ahhhhh :D.

Nothing planned yet for Monday, we'll see what the day brings.

Hellooo...!!!

That is such a beautiful card Sue...! She is fab, your little girl...! :) I hope dinner yesterday was nice!

It's so nice to see you here Denise...! :) I hope you get a lot of rest before you get back to work again. And I was curious too, of what you are doing?

I'm not feeling very good today... and Alva and I decided to stay at home while J took Linus to the soccer game. I'm very glad we did stay at home, because after a couple of hours Alva suddenly had a fever...! ::) I'm already tired of this... and I hope the evil bugs and viruses will leave us alone soon...! :P

The soccer game seems to have been lots of fun! :D Linus played 2 games and his team won both.

Enjoy your long weekend Nicky and Lisa...! The sky is blue here too today and it's so nice! (Even if I haven't been outside... ;) )

Yeah for blue skies Nicky!! We have had lovely weather until today-cloudy and grey. I was going to ride my bike to the farmer's market but it doesn't look very nice outside so I poured another cup of coffee and decided to see what 's up here!

I actually started a cleaning business 3 years ago-sorta by accident. I was an art teacher in Connecticut but we moved here to Missoula Montana to be closer to my huband's three children from his first marriage. My husband is a builder/restoration finish carpenter. He was very successful in New England but since we moved here-and the economy/housing market crashed he hasn't been able to find much work. I also could not get a job teaching so out of desperation I started cleaning houses-word of mouth helped me build a strong client list and now I have a waiting list. It's hard work but I am very picky about who I work for so I only clean houses I like :) I also work at a fine dining restuarant a few nights a week. So it does make for long days. I clean during the day and then work usually a seven to eight hour shift at the restuarant. But I am not complaining!! I feel so lucky to have good paying jobs. There are so many people around here that work their butts of for minium wage.

Life has a funny way of throwing stuff at you! As far as being a grandma-I am 43 so it actually could be possible, but my 5 grandchildren are actually my stepchildren's kids. My husband is 15 years older than me and we have two boys together (12 and 13) and then he has two daughters (30 and 26) and a son (27) We have been married 13 years and have worked really hard to have a close connection with all our kids. It has definitely paid off! All 5 kids are super close and we have a full house most days between all the coming and going. My grandchildren call me grandma neicy, sometimes neicy for short. My oldest son Conner once said, "Our family is a bit off key" I loved it!

Hope your birthday dinner was fun Sue and Anna, I hope you are feeling better soon.
It looks like the sun might come out after all! They have a saying here in Montana, "if you don't like the weather-just wait ten minutes." it's true.

Lovely hearing more about you Denise.
I felt rather emotional reading the bit about your family. It sounds lovely and so good to hear how close you are.
You work so hard. Do you find your art at good way to escape and relax from everything?

Anna, I'm glad Linus was well enough for socca, did her enjoy it?
And how's little Alva doing now?

I better go. Louis is doing my absolute head in.

Just realised I didn't say anything about your beautiful birthday card, Sue - it's gorgeous, you have a definite future scrapper on your hands there, no wonder you got emotional! :)

Denise, great to hear about you and your family, what a lovely large bunch you are! You certainly seem to work hard, how do you find time for the most important stuff, ie scrapping?!? :D

Anna, how are you and Alva doing? Hope your house is bug-free very soon :)

We had fun looking at camping stuff this morning, didn't buy anything but enjoyed browsing. The boys then dropped me off in Norwich and I went shopping for a birthday present for my niece, lovely to have a couple of hours to myself.

Yes, Linus did enjoy the soccer...! They played with small teams, only 4 players + goalkeeper, and except for when he got a ball hard in his stomach during the second game it seems to have been lots of fun...! :) The stomach is fine now luckily, and he said he was hoping there will be another game soon.

Alva has been ok when we've given her medicine, but inbetween the fever has been pretty high. It's so annoying and I hope she'll be better soon. Having a cold is ok, but I don't like it when their fever gets high. :(

And for myself... I'm fine as long as I take my drugs... ;D (paracetamol).

We've been watching quite a lot of athletics on tv again this weekend. Every year there is a "match" between Sweden and Finland and it's always a lot of fun. Winning is really important (in a good way) and people fight really hard to do their very best. Last year Sweden won both the mens and the womens matches, but this year the Finnish men won pretty big. It's lots of fun watching and I really love athletics! :D

Denise, it sounds really hard working that much, but I guess you're right that it could be a lot worse, not being payed properly or not having a job at all. I agree with what everyone said before - your family sounds lovely...!

Oh Nicky... a few hours of shopping sounds lovely! Did you find anything for yourself too?

I got an impulse this Tuesday on my way home from work and bought a pair of shoes again. I've definately bought more shoes this year than ever before. But I'm going to return them. They are green and really cute, but I decided that black is the way to go. :)

Hi all!

Happy Birthday Sue.

Managed to catch up on everyone's news. The painting looks great - been doing a bit of that myself.
Have a pretty sick dd and one ds with a sore throat, along with myself..hope that is all that develops here.

Our weekend is Thursday Friday and was pretty busy. Went to see a family of new friends of my kiddoes on Thursday and visit with some other friends on Friday - catching up before they go away.

Trying to scrap but not got much mojo right now. Perhaps tomorrow.

Dinner was very exciting tonight. ;D
Marinated BBQ steak and salad with home made vinaigrette. The exciting bit was my two boys marinated the steak and made the salad. I whisked up the dressing while hubs bbq'd the meat.

Wow, Sharyn, looks like we have two things in common -- I was born in Australia and my husband and I are also celebrating our 25th anniversary in December!!

Good Morning to all :)

Welcome Sandra to you too (please tell me I have remembered your name correctly :) )

We have limited pc time right now. Once Ade goes off to work, we are off these things and the 3 of us are going to play monopoly in our pjs. Perfect for a Sunday morning I think.
Ade and I are planning a possible surprise then this afternoon. I just hope he doesn't come home too late.

I worked until 10pm last night and finished that big order I was working on.
Such a relief :) :) Just one more biggie to go this week, but the deadline in Wednesday am.
Then everything is back to normal with reasonable deadlines again. Phew!!

Dinner sounds good Sharyn. Great that the kids muck in.

Nicky, I think that's what I need, proper 'Me' time.
Although they've been going to their Dad's over night each week, I have been working from 5am through until late at night making the most of the time. So although I'm alone, my only reason for leaving the house has been to go to the post office.
I've struggled with patience these past couple of days.

Ade's at the car now, better go play monopoly :)

Morning Funky Fairy lady ;D Monopoly sounds good, is that junior or regular? Sam has played Monopoly Junior at friends' houses a couple of times, and loved it, think that might go on the Christmas list (yup, already started on those lists!).

I've had my patience tried a few times this week too, Max seems to be going through a little phase of defiance. He's mostly such a good boy, doing as he's told, but the last couple of weeks we've started getting refusals when he's asked to do something, or just plain ignoring. I know this is probably relatively normal for a 5 yr old, LOL, but when you're not used to, it's hard work! He's also begun crying at the drop of a hat, when something doesn't go his way, it's started driving me mad. It's all put on, because he can switch it off in a moment, too. I'm ok with it really, as I know he's just experimenting with pushing the boundaries, and I'm also pretty sure it will stop when he gets back into a proper routine with school the week after next.

Oops, didn't meant to go off into all that! It's therapy you know, here in CD World! :D

We're off baby-visiting this morning, looking forward to that ;D.

Good morning. Raining here right now so wondering if our BBQ plans will be canceled. We do have a few hours until then so things might change. Hope so-I am making potato salad to bring and looking forward to not cooking a whole meal.

Sharyn your dinner sounded yummy. How old are your boys? I have a 12 and 13 year old. They are both taller than me now.

Anna I am not a huge sports fan but I must admit in the fall because we live across the street from the University, I do really enjoy going to the Montana Grizzly football games. People are so crazy about it here. We always have a lot of people over and make tons of food, It is really fun.

Nicky I love finding a few hours to just putter around a store, even if I don't buy anything. Me time is essential to survival as a mom and wife I think. I was a stay at home mom for many years when my husband was doing well in his business and I did less scrapbooking/art then. Having a busy schedual now kinda forces me to be organized and find time and make good use out of it. I really don't sleep much either :) I guess everything goes in spurts. I can't do everything, or have everything I want. Every day is different and I just try to go with it. I admit there are times I have no patience with my kids. That's usually the signal to ignore the dirty dishes, laundry, etc. and go to bed early!

Lisa-it sounds like you have a crazy schedual like mine. I definitely do not get the perfect mommy award. My boys know they are loved but I am not always the most patient person. The thing that gets to me is when they get really complainy about things they can't do or have. I guess I take it personally sometimes. That's when I feel like I am working so hard and they don't appreciate how much we try to do for them. Oh gosh-I sound like my mother!

Just a quick hello from me.... I've been spending all afternoon on the couch. The fever isn't that high, but I'm totally useless and feel sooo bad. (In this house, I'm afraid I'm the one who complains the most when getting ill... ;) :P ) Both kids seem to be going back to school/daycare tomorrow, but I guess I'll be home on my own. ::)

Ok, that's all for now... heading back to the couch... :(

Hello ladies,

As it turns out, this has been an ultra ultra busy weekend for us. Just having Chris home from a full weekday week away has been such a relief. It is also our 12th Anniversary Married weekend so we wanted to celebrate as a family. Dinner tonight was steak - it was supposed to be lobster but the restaurant changed its menu so settle for the next best.

I am on "no desserts or sweets" until Tuesday to make sure the tests come out realistic at ultrasound and all the samples they need. We'll see.

Lisa, we played Monopoly too, but on Saturday. Chris and I have a Monopoly game, Hong Kong edition to commemorate the return of Hong Kong to China and it was a version Lara hadn't played yet. It's very precious for historical reasons and I reminded Lara that "the game is older than you" so be nice to it! :) In the end, Lara won - $49,000 and I was second $40,000 and Chris was bankrupt. Lara's been keeping score of our Monopoly games - she's won 4, Chris won 2 and me won NADA. But the crazy thing is we're not playing Junior Monopoly so we're still trying to figure out where she's got the game rigged. She's all of 6 years old! grrr..

We went for baby stuff today and were satisfied with all purchases. Now we only need a baby bath tub and stroller to be ordered. I was missing things for my hospital bag which, after my scare last week made me kick it up a notch so I just had to make sure I have everything now... just in case, you know?

Anna, I hope you feel better soon.
Nicky, hope your shopping went well!
Lis, how did that surprise work out?

I finished a layout that I posted on my blog about being a mum again.. and that's the color combo I'm in love with right now. :) Going to try to do some productive work tonight and iron and watch a movie :D

Catch y'all later!!
