What's everyone doing for the 4th of July?

Postby tricia » Jun 28th, '07, 10:45 pm

It just dawned on me today that that's less than a week away!  I guess my head has been in the clouds!  We are staying put and enjoying the activities in our town.  In the morning there's a children's parade and then there's a festival down by the river and I think we might actually brave the fireworks this year with the kids.  Don't know if how well my 2 yr old will do...
Hope everyone has fun plans!

Darn did this ever sneak up on my quick. I have no idea what we are going to do. I guess I better start thinking. Heck this might be the first 4th that we actually get rained out!

No plans yet. We usually stay home and set off little fireworks with the kids. It's fun and easy and no crowds! It almost always rains here on the 4th, so it wouldn't be too much fun to try to do stuff with the littlest one. I can't believe that she's almost a year old already!

I'm off work till thursday next week....woohoo!
Saturday is my dd, Lillie's B-day party...she'll be 4 on the 3rd.
Not sure yet what we will do on the 4th. Last year when we went to see the fireworks, my girls wanted to leave as soon as they started.  ???

Watching the fireworks display in
Mark Twain's hometown, right on the
banks of the Mississippi River!

Picnic, parade, and fireworks for us. Can't wait to see Liam's expression when he sees them this year.

I don't have any plans yet. Maybe I'll try to find some fireworks. Usually they have them on weekends though, and the 4th is a wednesday this year. So there's a 50% chance that I've missed them.

I think first we're going to have lunch by the pool at our club and swim a bit. Then after we get too hot, come home and try a new cocktail recipe I found on FoodTV.com - watermelon margaritas (that is, my dh and I, not my 5-year-old). Since we live in the MidWest now, we thought we'd try another new recipe for dinner - beer brats. As for fireworks, probably just set off a few little ones in our driveway. My daughter really doesn't like the noise the big ones make.

Oh, and Happy Canada Day to all those Canadians out there!

Just having a few friends over - doing some grilling and then DH gets to light off things that go bang!

nothing tooo crazy here in tucson, az.
the temp is predicted at hitting 112 degrees!
holy crap.
that's HOT.
so i think we will spend the morning at the raquet club swimming with
the boys. & then we will watch local fireworks...they don't start until around
9 p.m. so we'll see how we're doing on energy!

*btw, my husband just graduated from the Tucson Fire Academy.
he has a 24 ON - 24 OFF schedule at his fire station over a 10 day period. (so basicially he works
5 days of the 10). Fourth of July will be the start of his SIX days off!!!
Yippppeee!

I hope you can follow that. It's a little confusing!

***& yes. I agree with you tricia that patricia is in the lead with the "coolest" plans!
