Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
I'm cutting mine way back. But I have a wine tasting party tonight that I need to bring a treat to share. I'm making Jewish Apple Cake because I have a couple Honey Crisp apples still sitting in the fruit bowl. I think it will be pretty on my red serving platter with confectioner sugar sprinkled on it.
I'm also making Genettis to send to my son and his girlfriend and to have a few at home. I'll probably make some peanut butter blossoms and of course Pumpkin Roll closer to Christmas.
Anyone else doing baking?

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
I'm going to a cookie swap Tuesday night, so I need to get busy. I still haven't decided which cookie to bake. Paige & I are planning to do a little baking this weekend while the boys are away at a soccer tournament.
Have fun at your party tonight, Laura! I would love a piece of your apple cake right now, with some coffee!

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
I spent my morning yesterday making chili for my parent's annual christmas party. They are vegetarians and bless her heart, my mom just never could make chili - lol. So, I have fun doing it for the party every year. We multiply the recipe by four and end up with LOTS of chili. But, I know that is not really baking.
But, like you Sherry, I have a cookie party to go to and haven't yet figured out my recipe. I am eyeing some bacon chocolate chip cookies that I saw on Pinterest.
Have fun tonight Laura!

I ♥ bacon! lol If you dare try these, please give a review (and the recipe), if they're good.

I just search through my cookie pins on Pinterest and have decided to make these. I will do a test run today to see if they're worthy of the swap.

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
oh sherry! those Look GOOD! We are wheat free around here, so that dictates a lot of what I can try - that bacon recipe I found uses almond four, so I think I may just give it a go
I'll let you know how they turn out!

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
We're hoping to do some baking next weekend with my mom & one of my sisters... I love to make the Thumbprint Cookies with red currant jelly in them, Mexican Wedding Cakes, and lots of Spritz. My sister usually makes chocolate chip, and Mom likes to make a raisin cookie. Lots of fun, but not so healthy! lol

I love holiday baking! We have cut way back on the animal fat products in our house, but it's O.K. to cheat for special occasions. I will bake a batch of hazelnut butterballs and want to make a pear ginger upside down cake for Christmas. Love reading about the good things you are making!

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
Um yes, I have baked twice already. A few weeks ago for our kids bake sale for our parent council - I made:
white chocolate cherry shortbread
hot cocoa cookies
grinch cookies
sugar cookie bar
this weekend I made 11 dozen cookies for our work kids' xmas party and for the boys as they offered to bring them into school today. I also made some quick fudge and magic cookie bar.
We are making sugar cookies with the kids on saturday as it is a tradition thing and they have been asking. We decorate them together with my mom. The kids are also requesting I make more hot cocoa cookies as I didn't save them enough ! lol

Still to do this week-end:

That will be it I think!

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
I did some for a cookie sale at school. The kindergarteners raised $310! They used the money to buy goats, a pig and some chickens for families in Africa. Such a great reason to bake!
I will do more in the coming days. Not like my mom used to though! She outdid herself every year and now when I make Spritz or divinity fudge I feel pleased.

Re: Anybody doing any Holiday Baking?
Ashli that sounds delicious!
I am baking tomorrow. We are having 14 people over for New Years Day. My sister and brother in law, my 3 step children and spouses and our 6 grand children. It will be our Christmas. All the step kids love my rugelach so I make it for them all every year. I am making the dough tonight and then will bake tomorrow. It's pretty easy when you get in the flow of it.
