Re: QOTD 10/10/2013

I have tried and true and quickie meals that I fix often, but I try new recipes all the time. I get an e-mail with 6 meal ideas with recipes each week so usually try 2-3 a week. I get bored eating the same things over and over.

Re: QOTD 10/8/2013

Denise and Marti, hope you are feeling well soon. I prefer my recliner to either couch or bed, hot tea with honey, a snuggly lap quilt, my little dog by my side and a magazine or book rather than TV or movie. I spent way too much time doing this in March and April so hope it 's a good long time befo...

Re: Where do you buy your bedding?

IKEA sometimes has some cool patterns. I also shop Ross, but their stock changes frequently. My go-to when I'm feeling flush is LLBean, but they probably wouldn't carry the style you're looking for.

Re: QOTD 9/26/2013

I have an umbrella in my car and often need it here is Oregon. But have been totally unprepared clothes-wise the past week. I've had to get into my winter clothes storage bins almost every morning or else I'd freeze to death. NOT READY for cooler weather. Denise, could you live next door to me and d...

Re: Going to meet an Online Scrappy Friend Tomorrow

I've met several people IRL who I first met on line. Love doing that and they have been so much like what they are on-line. Met lots of the CD peeps in Greece two years ago - that was an absolutely marvelous experience. Laura, have a grand time. I feel certain you will.

Re: QOTD 9/24/2013

The hand scrub and the candles are great ideas, Laura. Where did you get the recipes/instructions for them? I have really scaled back Christmas in the past few years. My kids buy whatever they need/want. So, I usually give each grandchild a small gift and make a contribution to their college fund. B...

Re: Happy Sunday

Lisa, 33 kids sounds like a whole classroom. Have fun. Love Angela's Ashes and really enjoyed The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, too. Happy reading. Ashley, hope all is well with you and the baby. Good that you are seeing the midwife this week. Had a fun photo shoot at the new house with my daugh...

Re: QOTD 9/20/2013

Definitely a fine line and so different with each child. My son never needed nagging and was always on top of classes and homework - he graduated 6th in his class. My daughter was an entirely different kid. Needed constant supervision. Would complete assignments and then not turn them in. I finally ...

Re: QOTD 9/19/2013

I was born in 1942 and am not really a baby boomer, nor am I a depression era child. My parents were though and believed in hard work and saving everything. I never set the world on fire, but as a nurse earned a very nice living wage. My children (born in 1968 and 1975) were and are both hard worker...

Re: Read anything good this summer?

I read voraciously so my list is edited. But I do love almost anything by Kristin Hannah, Gayle Foreman, and Kate Morton. Also have read almost everything by Anne Perry (Victorian era mysteries). Angela's Ashes is on my very favorite book list. LOVED it. Brain on Fire by Susannah Cahalan loved it. N...

Re: QOTD 9/18/2013

Sherry, my mother was in her thirties when my brother and I were born, then she was 43 when my sister was born. She started dyeing her hair for the same reason you do. Everyone thought she was my sister's grandmother. She dyed it until she was in her 70's and started to get scalp irritation from all...

Re: I got so inspired..

Malin, great job making your own. Lisa, I like yours, too. I was also inspired and looking in my local mega grocery store but didn't find anything. Will have to keep looking as it's a fabulous way to get everything out in the open to be used.

Re: Do you hate it when you "over organize" yourself?

Yep! Am currently changing my organization around to flow more the way I currently scrapbook in hopes I'll use up things I've forgotten about.

Hope you find them soon, Laura.

Re: 10 Minute Achievements

Lisa, my kids and I are buying a new house with a ground floor apartment for me and a nice sized space for them. It's only 4 blocks from where I currently live. They sign papers today and will move in a couple weeks. I'll move in about a month. We're all excited to be living in the same house with o...

Re: QOTD 9/18/2013

Well, I'm on the other side of this discussion. I started with gray/white areas around my ears and forehead years ago. I didn't have the time or inclination to dye it. So just let it happen. People thought I had it professionally highlighted. Over the years it has spread until now it is mostly white...

Re: 10 Minute Achievements

I usually set my timer for 15 minutes when I have a chore I'm dreading. Amazing what I can get done in 15 minutes. Since I'm moving out of my apartment in a month, I'm doing a deep cleaning in one room a week, so the final cleaning won't be so overwhelming. This week is the bathroom - took a damp cl...
